How Do I Choose a Builder?
I cannot stress this enough: do your due diligence when hiring a builder. Look for a firm with rave reviews and references who will speak about them in detail. Contact the Rhode Island Contractors’ Registration and Licensing Board to ensure they have proper licensing and insurance. Also, the lowest bidder is often not the best option. A qualified design/build firm will respect your budget and work with you to give you the best solution at your price point.
When’s the Best Time to Start a Home Renovation?
With proper planning, most projects can be shared any time of year in Rhode Island. Our crews do both interior and exterior work year-round. The key is to allow plenty of time to plan. Design and estimating the cost of a project takes time, as does obtaining the necessary state and local permits. Certain materials and components can also extend lead time. Bear in mind, the best contractors are usually busy and may have a backlog of work. Contact your contractor as early as possible and they will help determine a realistic timeframe for your specific project.
